This is a group project made over 10 weeks for University at Savannah College of Art and Design. The goal with this project was to form our own Game Studio (Sleepless Ambitions) and then create a full game plus website.

In Apocalypse Meow the world as we know it has ended and all cuteness was lost to the world. You have a box of the last remaining kittens and puppies and the bandits want to take them from you. Shoot and build turrets to protect them at all costs.

AI:

The AI behave as most tower defense enemies, they follow set paths to the van and then attack once close enough. If a pet falls on the ground, they run to pick it up and back up their path to escape with it. Their movement is controlled with a NavMesh, obstacles, and terrain types, to guide them on the correct paths.

Health System:

I decided to create a hybrid health system of a hidden HP value and visible “hearts” style system. The hearts in the system are the kittens/puppies. The hidden HP controls how easy it is to lose a pet and the bandits escaping with all pets is a lose condition. Hidden HP can be regained by repairing your van. When a pet is lost it falls off the van and is picked up by a bandit who then tries to run away with it, you can kill them to reclaim your pet.
